“The front lines of the battle for nature are not in the Amazon rain forest or the Alaskan wilderness; the front lines are our backyards, medians, parking lots, and elementary schools.”
– Claudia West, Planting in a Post Wild-World
Plant Nursery Hours:
Saturdays beginning in April
9am to 1pm
and by appointment.
Call Amanda at 610 505 4881 to set up a time to wander around and select some plants for your garden.
Choose from a wide variety of perennials, shrubs, and trees for sun and shade, pollinator and butterfly gardens, rain gardens, meadows, and tough urban spaces. Add to your own kitchen garden with fruiting bushes, herbs and other edibles.
We specialize in native plants, but offer many traditional, non-native favorites as well.
*Farm Stand members receive 10% off in our plant nursery all season*

Germantown Kitchen Garden does not use insecticides of any kind in the production of our own plant stock, and we do not purchase plants from other growers that have been treated with neonicotinoids (neonics), as they are a systemic insecticide and therefore active and persistent in all tissues of the plant, including its pollen and nectar. Neonics act as a neurotoxin to all invertebrates, including pollinators like bees, wasps, and butterflies, and we find it especially cruel to create a garden that invites these particular animals in, only to cause them harm.
We hope you will understand and join us in our aim to create pollinator friendly gardens throughout Philadelphia.
Ask all of your local nurseries to discontinue use of this harmful chemical- the pressure is working!
